Thomas Vanek netted a power-play goal in the second period for Detroit, which is now 2-2 on the season.

Jimmy Howard made 32 saves for the Wings while New York's Henrik Lundqvist stopped 16.

Nashville plays at Joe Louis Arena tomorrow night, and the Sharks are in on Saturday.
