Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens admits to not having a green thumb but that didn't stop him from planting red and white tulip bulbs as part of birthday celebrations next year.
It's to celebrate the city's 125th birthday in 2017 along with Canada's 150th birthday.
Tulips were planted Friday morning at the corner of Ouellette and Riverside.
"The tulips come from Holland originally and they go through Ottawa and it is part of the grant that the City of Windsor received," says Mayor Dilkens.
Bulbs will also be planted at Jackson Park, Coventry Park and Willistead Park.
The Canadian Garden Council picked 150 communities across the country to receive the free bulbs.
