Recycling resumes this week in Windsor after being cancelled as crews focused on picking up flood-related debris.
As of September 16, crews had collected close to 5,000 tonnes of flood materials.
Manager of Environmental Services, Anne Marie Albidone, admits recycling could be a little slower than normal due to the higher volume that is expected.
"People have had about a month's worth of recycling now," says Albidone. "There is going to be extra recycling so wherever possible use a cardboard box."
Albidone says recycling will resume according to the dates on the collection calendar.
The city's contractor 'Green For Life' is putting out extra trucks for the next two weeks to help with the extra recycling volume. As for yard waste, Albidone says residents will have to wait a bit longer.
"The next scheduled yard waste collection is the beginning of October so for the rest of September, there isn't any yard waste schedule and we will not be doing any yard waste collection," says Albidone.
City officials are also asking residents to ensure regular garbage follows the collection guidelines and is in hard-sided containers.
Bulk furniture collection is also on hold until further notice.
