Saturdays high is expected to be 37C or 99F
If you are a fan of hot humid weather, you are going to like the weather this holiday weekend in Windsor.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning of an 'extreme heat wave' due to hot and humid air rolling in from the Gulf of Mexico.
Saturday's high is expected to hit 37C and speaking on AM800's the TKO Show, Environment Canada Meteorologist Jeff Coulson says it could be record setting.
"Looks like Saturday is one where the record is going to be risk. Certainly Windsor is no stranger to heat and humidity, getting up to 37C if we do on Saturday as a forecast high would break the current record for that date in history."
The record high for June 30 is 34.4C set in 1941 and 2012.
Coulson says the hot humid weather also ushers in the chance of some severe weather.
"Possibility, given all the ingredients that we have got coming together that some of those storms could be severe, so we may in fact see some severe thunderstorm watches and warnings being issued late Canada Day or holiday Monday," he says.
There will be some relief from the humidity by the middle of next week, but it will still be warmer than normal.
