Record-setting cold temperatures are possible the rest of the week across Windsor-Essex.
Meteorologist Matt Grinter with The Weather Network says the temperature will drop Tuesday with blustery conditions making it feel even colder with the wind chill factored in.
The forecast is calling for a high of -13C during the day and a wind chill of -25 with a risk of frost bite — but Wednesday into Thursday is when this area could see record-setting cold temperatures.
"The coldest daytime high temperature that Windsor has ever seen was -20.9 back in 1944," says Grinter. "We are looking at potentially breaking that record for Wednesday or Thursday, so that's something to keep an eye on."
Environment Canada is calling for a temperature of -20°C Wednesday afternoon with a wind chill of -34°C and a risk of frost bite.
