Brace yourself Windsor-Essex — the hot and humid weather is here to stay.
Environment Canada's Geoff Coulson says, while every day this week is going to be sticky, Friday is the day to watch out for.
The forecast is calling for a high of 37 Celsius, but according to Coulson it'll feel more like 48 or 118 Fahrenheit.
Coulsen tells AM800 News Friday will likely be a record setting day.
"That would be a record forecast for Friday. The current record, 36.7 Celsius, was set back in 1946. If we do reach that high of 37 on Friday, that would be the warmest day that we've recorded at the Windsor Airport since July 4, 2012," says Coulsen.
He says make sure you have a plan in place to keep cool this week.
"People who are not fans of the heat and humidity have already been feeling it, but Friday is going to be that signature day. Certainly a day that if you don't need to be outside, certainly a day that if you can avoid strenuous activities during the heat of the day you're going to want to do thatm," adds Coulsen. "These can be dangerous conditions for those that have health issues. Certainly it is going to be a good day to find some air conditioning and hang out there."
Coulsen says heat warnings lasting more than a couple of days are rare.
"We do see heat warnings on a fairly regular basis during the summer months. Not all that often do they necessarily go along for the timeframe that we're talking about here lasting a full seven days. Just the unrelenting nature, for people that don't get air conditioning, not a lot of relief during the overnight hours where it stays very warm and humid as well."
Coulson says, with the humid air mass hanging over the region, heavy downpours or thunderstorms are a possibility as well.
He adds the heat and humidity will begin to break Monday and we should return back to seasonal temperatures by Tuesday.
