The owner of a local restoration company says it is going to take months for the rebuild to start.
Speaking on AM800's the Lynn Martin Show, owner of Alpine Construction Lou Savoni says crews were still removing wet materials from basements including drywalls, carpets, under pads and wet furniture.
He says in some cases, water was one-to-two feet high because of the sewer back-up or the sump pump couldn't keep up to last week's rainstorm.
He says there is still a month's worth of demolition work still to do.
"The phase we are working on now is getting into homes, removing wet materials and try to dry the houses out to eliminate any bacteria issues or mould issues that kind of thing," says Savoni.
Savoni says some areas around Banwell, Lauzon, St. Clair Beach and Russell Woods were hardest hit.
The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing is in Windsor-Tecumseh and Lakeshore today to look at the damage.
