Windsor and Tecumseh are not the only places dealing with a growing rat problem.
Similar numbers are reported across this part of the province.
Steve Graff, the Quality Assurance Manager at Abell Pest Control, says conditions have been quite comfortable for the pesky rodents for the past year. "You know, they've basically had the whole summer into fall and even into the fall you're getting seeds and grass and things like that provide food material. So we've actually seen a 27-percent higher call rate this year over last year at this time. So we're seeing a pretty big jump in concerns from home owners."
Graff told AM800's 'The Afternoon News' there was less of a kill-off last year because of the mild winter.
The most common signs of a rodent problem are droppings and property damage.
Graff says they'll often chew through material to get to a food source.
