The defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors are off to a winning start to the season after knocking off the New Orleans Pelicans 130-122 in overtime at Scotibank Arena.
Pascal Siakam racked up 34 points and 18 rebounds and Fred VanVleet also dropped in 34 points for the Raptors, who will try and repeat despite losing NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in the offseason.
Kyle Lowry donated 22 points, six assists and five rebounds in the season-opening victory.
Brandon Ingram scored 22 points to pace the new-look Pelicans, who played their first game following the blockbuster trade of All-Star Anthony Davis to the Lakers.
JJ Redick netted 16 points and Jrue Holiday had 13 in the setback.
