Canadian Milos Raonic is moving on at the Rogers Cup.

The 30th-ranked Raonic beat 10th-ranked David Goffin of Belgium in straight sets at Toronto's York University campus.

Raonic used his powerful serve to his advantage as he fired 13 aces to Goffin's two and won 100 per cent of his first-service points.

Canadian Denis Shapovalov begins his Rogers Cup singles quest today in Toronto against France's Jeremy Chardy.

Shapovalov is the top seeded Canadian on the men's side at number-26 while Chardy is ranked 46th in the world.
