Postal workers at a Tecumseh rally have heard about a new campaign aimed at moving Canada Post into the 21st century.
Workers across the country have been taking part in rotating strikes to back contract demands as workers fight for improvements in health and safety, gender equality, service expansion and workload.
The campaign titled "Delivering Community Power" is about expanding the duties of the post office to include postal banking, solar panels on post offices, charging stations for electric vehicles and having door-to-door mail carriers checking in on seniors and people with mobility issues.
About two dozen workers attended the rally Thursday morning outside of the Tecumseh post office including former CAW President Ken Lewenza who applauds the vision of the campaign.
"Think about that for a minute. Isn't that the kind of nation we want in Canada?" Kewenza asked. "A Canada that is wealthy, a Canada that cares for one another, a Canada that quite frankly recognizes and appreciates public services, but more importantly, this campaign is about building a better nation."
Workers are now entering their third week of strike action.
