The Windsor-Essex Community Health Centre has held an open house to raise awareness about the services it provides -- everything from health screening to chronic disease management.
A health fair was held Thursday at the recently opened Sandwich site on College Ave. near Felix Ave.
Executive Director Rita Taillefer says the health fair focused on a number of initiatives such as health screening, flu shots, hepatitis C and chronic disease management.
She says it was also a chance to highlight what's offered at the six locations operated by the community health centre.
Taillefer says the west Windsor location has a lot more space compared to its previous location.
"It also gives us the capacity because we have more examination rooms, almost twice as much to see more patients," says Taillefer. "So patients who don't have family physicians can come to us and have a family physician."

Along with more space, she says there are more services at the Sandwich site.
"We've got physicians, we've got nurse practitioners, we've got dietitians, we've got a chiropodist, nurses," says Taillefer. "We have workers that work with health prevention, health promotion not only treating illness but keeping people healthy before they get sick."
The health fair was part of the centre's Community Health and Well-being Week.
