Essex native, Matt Puempel has been picked up off waivers by the New York Rangers.
The Ottawa Senators put Puempel on waivers Sunday.
According to the New York Rangers Twitter, General Manager Jeff Gorton says Puempel is versatile. "He's played on the third line, second line, he's can play on both wings, he played a little bit of centre. So somebody that has played in the league that we know a little bit about so I think it's another guy that the way the team plays, could be a good fit for us," says Gorton.
The winger was drafted by Ottawa 24th overall in the 2011 draft.
He played in the OHL for the Peterborough Petes and Kitchener Rangers.
