A former Windsor elementary school built in 1915 is now on the market.
Last week, the Greater Essex County District School Board put J.E. Benson Public School up for sale.
The school closed in June 2014 after students headed to the newly built Westgate Public School in September 2014.
Board spokesperson Scott Scantlebury says the building and property were offered to the city as well as other school boards and other educational institutions before it was put on the market.
He says there is not a set price for the school.
"The board is required through the Education Act to receive fair market value for a property and assessments have been done by the board," he says. "That figure is not made public, part of the process from the sealed bid tenders that we're requesting from potential buyers."
He says the school is not yet on the city's heritage list.
"The City of Windsor has it on its heritage list but had not been officially designated though."
The school is located on Wyandotte Street West across from Adie Knox Recreation complex.
The deadline to submit a bid is September 20th.
