Public input is going to be a key plank of creating a new sewer master plan in Windsor.
A public advisory committee is going to be created with up to 20 members to help guide the process.
Council received its first quarterly update on the new master plan at its meeting on Monday night.
It is part of the city's efforts to combat increasingly intense rainfall and extreme storms that have led to two major flooding events in as many years.
Ward 7 Councillor Irek Kusmierczyk sees the endeavour as likely one of the most crucial for the city.
"This is probably one of the most critical, if not most critical, undertakings for this city council and for the residences — making sure that we have a really robust storm and sanitary sewer master plan."
He is encouraging residents to take their opportunity to have their say in a process.
"This is an opportunity through this task force, this public stakeholder advisory committee, to really get resident input on the storm and sanitary master plan which will really be the foundational blue print for making our city resilient in the face of catastrophic storms."
The new sewer master plan is expected to be finalized in 2019.
