City residents are encouraged to attend a public meeting on Thursday dealing with the Riverfront Festival Plaza.
The city is working on development plans for the plaza and wants to hear comments and suggestions from the public.
Ward 3 city councillor Rino Bortolin says the new stage was a huge addition to the site a few years ago but now it's time to improve the entire space.
"It's basically a few acres of black top attracting all the heat," says Bortolin. "So to change that up and add some dynamic space, some green space, maybe some trees. Different things to sort of break up the space and give it some character."
The city will have concept plans on display.
Some ideas include permanent building features, amenities, landscape greening and trails.
Those visions were set out for the plaza in the city's Central Riverfront Implementation Plan.
Bortolin says there is roughly 40% of the funding set aside for the proposed work.
Thursday's open house takes place from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at 400 City Hall Square East, Room 402.
