The Greater Essex County District School Board wants the public's help naming two new schools.
A survey is available on the board's website to gather ideas to name Windsor's Giles Campus on Mercer St. and a new Prince Andrew School in LaSalle.
That information will be brought to naming committees that will be formed suggest names to be brought to trustees for final approval.
Public Relations Officer Scott Scantlebury tells AM800 News the board has a good idea what kind of names it's looking for.
"Names for schools that give them some type of identity, a particular identity that not only students but the community at large can relate to," he says.
He says the location of the buildings should be a major factor adds Scantlebury, saying "A name that is relevant and a reflection of not only public education but, in certain circumstances in the case of the Mercer St. School, the identity of the building, which has its origins as a manufacturing plant."
The names will need to be set before the buildings go up so the theme and colours can be incorporated into their design.
"Construction on those buildings probably won't begin until October or November, so we still have lots of time," added Scantlebury
The schools are set to be completed by the start of the 2020 school year.
