The public school board is investigating a data breach.
In an email obtained by AM800 News, it's laid out that staff at an undsiclosed school this morning were made aware by a student that personal information of teachers and other employees could be viewed through a gap in system software at the board.
In theĀ email to staff, Greater Essex County District School Board Director of Education Erin Kelly says "at minimum" information that could be viewed includes employee names, addresses, social security and direct deposit information in addition to telephone numbers and dates of birth.
Kelly's email says three students were aware of the vulnerability.
The board doesn't believe the information was copied, printed or shared in any way. However, the board isn't ruling out the possibility.
The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario has been notified of the breach in addition to police, according to Kelly.
