The province has decided to allow the city to use the parking lot at Mackenzie Hall.
As heard on AM800 news on Thursday, the city received notice last Friday from the province to stop using the parking lot.
The city's Executive Director of Recreation and Culture Ray Mensour says the mayor's office reached out to ministers Monte McNaughton and Todd Smith to see if the decision could be reversed.
He says both were receptive to the idea and will allow the city to use the parking lot until the former jail property is sold.
Mensour says the city is glad to have the parking lot back.
"It's for the users," says Mensour. "I mean we have program rentals, we have rental groups, we have tenants in that facility so we're extremely happy for them especially."
Mensour says the province did install barriers on Thursday but they are being removed.
He says the parking lot should be available on Friday.
