The province wants to ensure all Royal Canadian Legion branches in Ontario don't pay property taxes.
Premier Doug Ford says veterans have paid their fair share to Ontario and Canada and Legion halls play a vital role in communities for veterans and their families.
Many legion halls are already exempt from paying municipal property taxes and the government's commitment would be to exempt them all from paying starting in 2019.
In Windsor, treasurer Joe Mancina says a bylaw is already in place exempting local legion halls from paying municipal property taxes up until 2027.
But he adds, they do have to pay the education portion.
The Ontario Command of the Royal Canadian Legion is compromised of over 400 branches throughout the province.
