Ontario Premier Doug Ford is adding more funding to healthcare in hopes of ending what has been dubbed 'hallway medicine.'
Health Minister Christine Elliott told a meeting of stakeholders Tuesday that hospitals in this province will be getting $90 million in funding ahead of flu season.
CTV News reports the province plans to fund more than 1,100 hospital beds, including 655 new spaces and 450 existing ones.
This would be separate from a promise to create 15,000 new long term care beds.
The announcement comes on the same day as Windsor Regional Hospital released statistics that showed a surge in patient volume that has led to overcrowding.
President and CEO David Musyj says he hopes the local LHIN will receive $4.5-million as part of the new provincial announcement to help local facilities in need of beds.
