Business owners angry that Windsor-Essex is not moving to Stage 2 of Ontario's reopening plan are planning a protest Wednesday morning.
The protest is being organized by a Facebook group called Open Ontario July 1 and will be staged outside the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit office on Ouellette Avenue in Windsor.
Erie Street Business Improvement Association Chair, Filip Rocca, is the owner of Mezzo Ristorante on Erie Street. He's also a member of the Facebook group.
Rocca calls the situation "a truly embarrassing moment for Windsor" and says he's over the top upset."
On Monday, Premier Doug Ford announced Windsor-Essex will not be allowed to move to Stage 2 of Ontario's reopening plan, citing a number of COVID-19 cases within the agri-farm sector in this area.
