The Town of Tecumseh is experiencing an increase in property standards infractions and bylaw complaints.
Council has been informed there were 196 complaints in 2017 compared to 155 complaints in 2016.
Councillor Tania Jobin says she's not sure why there has been an increase but she is preaching patience.
Jobin says it appears residents want immediate action after a by-law complaint is filed but stresses it does take time the resolve the complaint.
"Our entire culture is changing," says Jobin. "When somebody calls the town and they want something changed right away, you're not going to see an immediate change because that property owner also has their personal, private business that they're tending to and it's their lands as well and they have to be given a fair opportunity to adhere to those changes."
Jobin says complaints are happening throughout the entire municipality.
"It's not just on a rural road, it's not just in an urban setting, everybody is in a hurry, everybody is in a rush, everybody wants to see results today so I don't just think it's by-law enforcement," she says. "I think it's in our road safety issues and just in some of our development issues as well, patience is gone."
Jobin says she doesn't believe it's an administration problem but adds that councillors will continue to follow up with residents.
