The Windsor Championship, an official event of the Mackenzie - PGA Tour is coming to our region July 2nd - July 8th, 2018.
The City of Windsor, business leaders, businesses, educational institutions and The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County have come together to make the Windsor Championship a reality.
The economic impact to the local economy is estimated to be over 2 million dollars.
The Windsor Championship is one of thirteen stops across Canada and will be hosted at the Ambassador Golf Club.
Scott Pritchard, the Vice-President of the Mackenzie Tour says they take pride in giving back to local charities.
"Our tour has raised over 3.2 million dollars since we started in 2013, and we have a guaranteed $100.000 dollars going to hospice."
Pritchard says fans will be treated to some top notch golf.
"The calibre of play is tremendous, and we're really looking forward to coming back to Windsor as I know the players really enjoyed Ambassador."
Highlights of the tournament include a Tuesday Pro-Am tournament.
Wednesday is The Windsor Spitfire sponsored junior program where 100 junior golfers will play 18 holes of golf with their designated professional golfer and have an opportunity to mix and mingle with the owners, coaches and past and present members of The Windsor Spitfires.
Wednesday night at 6 p.m. will be the kickoff banquet for all sponsors, players, Pro- am teams and special guests. The event will be held at The St. Clair Centre for the Arts.
The actual tournament runs from Thursday the 5th until Sunday the 8th.
