Trudeau will be delivering his Canada Day message from Leamington
The President at Highbury Canco in Leamington admits at first, he thought it wasn't legitimate.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is taking his Canada Day festivities away from Parliament Hill and is visiting three cities across the country, including Leamington.
Trudeau will spend a few hours at Highbury Canco where President Sam Diab says the prime minister will broadcast a Canada Day message up to Ottawa.
"At first we weren't sure if it was legitimate, of all the towns and all the companies, but I think we have been getting a lot of coverage for some of the things we are doing out here and a lot of people are taking notice," he says.
Diab says the prime minister will be walking through some parts of the plant, which won't be operating since it is a Sunday and the stat holiday.
He is hoping to grab a few minutes with the prime minister.
"I'm expecting to spend a little bit of time with him, talking about Highbury Canco and some of the exciting things that are going on here and where the federal government could potentially help us and some of our peers."
Highbury Canco opened four years ago, taking over from Heinz. Diab says the company started with 250 workers, and today, it has 560 full-time staff.
A spokesperson for the prime minister says Trudeau wants to spend Canada day with "Canadians and their families" in parts of the country he doesn't often get a chance to visit.
