Tecumseh councillors get an update tonight on a proposed new multi-use sportsplex.
A report going before council puts the estimated cost at between $22-million and $24-million - an amount that councillor Andrew Dowie descirbes as 'a significant sum'. "This allows us to really describe the value of this facility. Is it something that our community really is lacking? I know from the different user groups we've absolutely heard that there's a definite shortage of winter training space that this kind of facility would provide."
Dowie adds there are three funding options on the table including a tax increase ranging from 1.81% to 5.43%.
If approved, the project would go next to the current Tecumseh Arena but an exact design and features have not been finalized.
