Don't be alarmed if you spot smoke in the Spring Garden Natural Area.
A prescribed burn is scheduled on 24 hectares of city-owned property on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.
The burns are a joint effort between the Essex Region Conservation Authority, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, City of Windsor and Woods and Wildlife Specialists Inc.
The prescribed burns are necessary to maintain a healthy and diverse ecosystem in the Ojibway Prairie area — which is the largest area of tallgrass prairie remaining in Ontario.
