Ontario Premier Doug Ford is at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Ford will be at the auto show Monday and Tuesday.
He's on a mission to let the the automotive world know that Ontario is open for business.
"We're cutting down regulations, reducing taxes, reforming labour bills and making it a friendly place to prosper if you open businesses in Ontario," said Ford.
He told listeners to AM800's 'The Morning Drive' on Monday that his government is determined to make Ontario more business-friendly.
"Ontario, which I was floored when I came to office, has 380,000 regulations," said Ford. "That's 380,000 and I wondered how can companies do business with a jurisdiction that has 380,000 regulations," said Ford.
He adds his government is working to reduce that number to make it easier for companies to invest in Ontario.
"We call it the regulation SWAT team. They're going to reduce that number by 25 per cent. Everytime a bureaucrat comes up with a new regulation, we have to reduce two other ones," added Ford.
The Premier also meets with GM officials but will not ask them to reconsider the closure of the Oshawa Assembly Plant.
Instead he'll talk about support for the 2600 workers who will be out of a job when the plant shuts down later this year.
