Windsor City Council sat down for an impromptu meeting with Ontario Premiere Kathleen Wynne Friday.
Wynne held a informal meeting with councillors Friday afternoon.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says Wynne was receptive to what council had to say and made it clear she was there to hear what they had to say on issues effected by the province.
Dilkens says it's the first time he's ever seen a Premier hold an informal meeting.
"The first time I think, that I can recall, that a sitting Premier came and just met informally with City Council. Some of the big issues that we brought up to the Premier were the Paul Martin Building, the hospital project, and the Canadian Club Brand Centre, that was a big issue."
He says there was a good discussion on the new Mega Hospital.
"That project still hasn't moved to phase two, she's aware of the need to see that project move into the next phase."
Dilkens adds, he's spoken to Wynne before, but having council speak as a united front, makes a difference.
"It's even stronger I think when you have the entire council supporting what you're saying. I think the Premier got the message loud and clear, the Paul Martin building is a priority project for Windsor and it's a priority project for our downtown community building. We see this as a catalyst for a lot of great things to happen in the downtown core."
Dilkens says the Premier was well versed in what's going on in the region, often finishing thoughts of councillors on topics.
He says she brought up points on Huron Church Road and other major arteries, but no promises were made on any issues discussed.
