Ontario Premier Doug Ford is applauding the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) as it steps up COVID-19 testing.
The health unit announced that beginning next week, there would be random locations chosen to set up a drive-thru test or a trailer.
"I congratulate the people, the more testing the better, way to go Windsor and the public health unit, you are doing a great job and we are going to expand this right across the province," says Ford.
When it comes to the rest of the province, Ford has been critical about the number of tests done.
"I'm just on these numbers constantly pushing the system, we will get there, I'm on this," he says.
The number of completed tests in Ontario reported today was more than 11,000 — well short of the capacity of 21,000 per day.
It’s expected up to 1,500 people in Windsor-Essex will be randomly tested over the next two weeks.
