Preliminary Hearing Begins in Windsor Murder

Chance Gauthier, 16, died in February 2018

A preliminary hearing has begun for a Waterloo man charged in the death of a Windsor teen.

Mal Chol, 20, is charged with first-degree-murder, kidnapping and forcible confinement in the death of 16-year-old Chance Gauthier.

Gauthier's body was found February 14, 2018 in an alley off Church St. near Erie. He had been shot to death.

The hearing will determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

A publication ban is in place preventing the broadcast of any details from the hearing.

Police are still searching for a second suspect in the case.
