Fans visiting Windsor for the Memorial Cup are heaping praise on the city and its people.
Michael Armstrong has been a Seattle Thunderbirds season ticket holder for 36 years. He and his wife travelled to Windsor to cheer on their favourite team. He calls the people here very friendly. "I have not met one person in Detroit or here in Windsor that aren't the finest people I've met, they're wonderful."
Tom Headrick made the trip to Windsor from Sault Ste. Marie to watch his grandson, Owen Headrick, who plays for the Erie Otters. Headrick says he and his wife are taking in everything Windsor has to offer. "We're in a house at Windsor university by the waterfront and the Memorial Cup was right outside. There was some celebrations for a city walk that the mayor sponsors, I believe, and it was awesome. We went down, got part of that, got our picture with the cup. It was just like unreal, so it all worked out great."
