A watershed conditions statement has been issued by the Essex Region Conservation Authority.
ERCA says up to 30 mm of rain could fall tomorrow along with winds up to 50km/h and because of the current wet soil conditions and elevated lake levels, there is the potential for flooding along watercourses and low-lying areas across the entire region.
There could also be near shore erosion with wave overtopping and spray in Leamington between Wheatley Harbour and the tip of Point Pelee and the eastern shoreline of Pelee Island.
People should take extra caution and avoid rivers, ditches, streams, and shoreline areas.
The combination of slippery banks and fast moving water, as well as waves overtopping breakwalls/shorelines, can be extremely dangerous.
The statement is in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday.
