The concession stand at the Harrow Arena might be shutting down for good.
Councillor Sherry Bondy says administration is recommending the closure of the stand starting this fall.
She says administration has advised council, the stand will no longer be operated by an outside source and the town does not have the staffing resources to operate it on its own.
Bondy says administration wants to put vending machines inside the facility.
"I'm not okay with seeing a service reduction at the Harrow Arena concession stand," says Bondy. "It may seem like a small deal but I feel like it will be a big deal to the users of the Harrow Arena and to our residents in Harrow who will not be happy seeing a further reduction of service in our area."
She says concerned about the future of the arena.
"I am very worried that with the shutting down of the concession stand, it's going to lead to user groups booking more ice time in Amherstburg and booking more ice time Kingsville and that's the message that I'm getting from the residents," says Bondy. "It's kind of the beginning of the end of the Harrow Arena which I don't want to panic people but we've just been through this experience with the Harrow High School."
Bondy says councillors will discuss the pending closure at the August 7th council meeting.
She says she also wants to hear from residents and user groups before the meeting.
