If you use the tunnel bus regularly, there are going to be some changes in the route stateside.
Transit Windsor Operations Manager Steve Habrun says there have been a lot of changes in downtown Detroit that warrant an adjustment.
"The opening of Little Caesars Arena last year, the increased development in the FoxTown area and along Woodward have created more demand for us and also passengers who want to get to that area," he says.
Transit Windsor received notice the city of Detroit was making traffic changes and wanted all transit traffic off Griswold.
Some stops will be eliminated, while others are being added along Randolph and Jefferson, Griswold and Jefferson, and Woodward and Jefferson.
Habrun says riders were also asking for changes.
"A few of them asked if we could move a few stops. We ended up looking at it and that ridership was low, if we could shift it over a block from Cass Avenue to Washington, it cuts down on the walking distance in that area," he adds. "What this change does do, if people are going to events at Little Caesars or even Comerica Park, people can go earlier, they can get closer at any given time, whether they are going to an event or not, or going shopping or out for dinner or anything like that."
Habrun hopes the changes will be in place by the end of this year.
