A popular pizza shop in south Windsor is looking to move next door.
Joe Ciaravino is owner of Antonino's Original Pizza at the corner of Howard Ave. and North Talbot.
He says he has two more years left on his current lease however extension talks with the landlord have come to a standstill and he has purchased the residential property next door, at 4350 Howard Ave. and is looking to build a two storey mix commercial/residential building.
Ciaravino says the bottom floor would be for his pizza shop and the top floor would have two apartment units. He says he's willing to work with the neighbourhood on the look of the building.
"It's going to be really cool with the new trend towards mixed commercial and residential," says Ciaravino. "We're going to have apartments upstairs so it's going to fit right in with that new plan of urban planning."
The current pizza shop is 750 sq.ft.
Last night, the Planning Committee approved the purchased property to be switched from residential to commercial. The issue still has to go to city council for final approval.
If approved by council, the home at 4350 Howard Ave. would be torn down and construction would start within the year.
