A Windsor, Ont. man faces several charges after a smash and grab theft on the city's west side.
Windsor Police Service was called to the 600 block of Rankin Avenue around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
Patrol officers arrived to find the window of a vehicle had been smashed and several items were stolen, including the owner's bank cards.
Witnesses told police a man had broken into the vehicle and fled on a bike before officers arrived.
Police were able to identify the man through a description and caught up to him when he attempted to use the victim's bank card at area stores later that day.
Officers located him in the area of Wyandotte Street West and Campbell Avenue.
The man fled from police on a bike, but was arrested without incident in the 500 block of Josephine Avenue.
Police were able to recover the victim's property.
A 50-year-old man is charged with mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, use of a credit card obtained by crime, two counts of fraud under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Windsor police are reminding the public to never leave valuables in their vehicle, especially in plain view, and always keep vehicle doors locked.
