With the crop of orange barrels in full bloom across Windsor-Essex, Windsor police have a reminder: follow the speed limits in construction zones and be patient.
Sargeant Steve Betteridge says the road work is necessary.
"Construction is great because that means we're getting improvements, but with construction season you have to use extra caution and you have to be aware the detour signs are well posted but you have to be and alert driver," says Betteridge.
He says one quality is most important: patience.
Betteridge says follow the posted information.
"Be aware of the speed limits and be conscious of where you are you may not be planning or thinking that there is a construciton zone there," says Betteridge. "But they're properly and well marked to give advance notice — we just have to be as drivers aware of that and take the patience and time."
Fines and penalties are often doubled in construction zones, so disobeying the speed limit can be expenzive as well as dangerous.
