Constable Ken Burt has been suspended with pay

Police act charges are pending against a Windsor police officer charged with impaired driving and assault.

Constable Ken Burt, a 20-year veteran, with the Windsor Police Service has been formally charged following an alleged incident on Saturday, September 22.

Several people had been assaulted during an altercation in the area of Greenpark Boulevard and Wyandotte St. East in east Windosr.

It involved a group of vehicles travelling along the roadway when the drivers stopped.

Constable Burt is charged with impaired driving, exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit and four counts of assault.

He was off-duty at the time of the alleged offence.

Chief Al Frederick says Burt has been suspended with pay and police act charges will be laid.
