Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
Severe Weather Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the areas could see between 15 to 30mm of rain beginning on Tuesday.
He says along with the rain, strong wind gusts are also expected.
"East winds 20 to 40 kilometres an hour but as the system goes by over night tonight we're going to see those winds shift around to the southwest become even stronger 40 gusting to 60 kilometres an hour," says Coulson. "Those winds stay strong during the day on Wednesday from the west, 40 gusting to 70 kilometres an hour."

Coulson doesn't expect any watches or warning to be issued.
"It doesn't look like it's going to be necessarily severe thunderstorm activity but certainly there could be a fair amount of lightning associated with some of these storms and briefly more intense downpours as well," says Coulson.
Coulson says the system developed in Colorado on Monday.
