Blake Griffin scored 26 points as the Pistons held off the Nets 103-100 in the NBA season opener in Detroit.
Andre Drummond added 24 points and 20 rebounds for Detroit, which made a winner of new head coach Dwane Casey in his Pistons debut. Reggie Jackson scored 19 points in the win.
Caris LeVert led the Brooklyn attack with 27 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 23 off the bench.
The Nets were just 5-of-27 from behind the arc. They also shot just 68.2-percent from the free-throw line in defeat.
The Pistons tip off against the Bulls in Chicago Saturday.
The Toronto Raptors also opened the NBA season on Wednesday with a 116-104 win over Cleveland.
Newest Raptor Kawhi Leonard racked up 24 points and 12 rebounds while fan favourite Kyle Lowry dropped 27 points.
