Schroder ended with 23 points, while Dewayne Dedmon donated 20 points to go with 13 rebounds for the Hawks, who snapped a two-game skid.
Andre Drummond racked up 25 points and 15 boards for Detroit, which has dropped two in-a-row on the heels of a five-game winning streak.
Blake Griffin posted 23 points, seven boards and six assists in the setback.
The Pistons are ninth in the East at 27-and-28, two games behind the Sixers for the final playoff spot and they'll host the Pelicans tonight.
