Pirates Drop Detroit in Extra Innings

Starling Martes home run pushes Pittsburgh to a victory over the Tigers at Comerica Park

Starling Marte tagged a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning to propel the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-3 win over the Tigers in Detroit.

Keone Kela gave up the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, but still got credit for the win.  Nick Kingham closed it out for his first save.  

Jung Ho Kang also homered for the Pirates, who have won eight of their last 11 MLB games.

Shane Greene served up the homer to Marte and took the loss for the Tigers.  

The Tigers have dropped four in-a-row.

The Tigers and Pirates play the finale of their two-game MLB series Wednesday night at Comerica Park.

Spencer Turnbull takes the ball for Detroit, while Trevor Williams pitches for Pittsburgh.
