"God, my heart goes out to the family and we're all praying so hard for you guys right now."
Bobby Dupuis, a Barrymore Lane resident, offers words of support after a weekend incident that has shaken his neighbourhood. He arrived on the scene shortly after an accident involving a four-year-old girl early Saturday evening.
The girl was rushed to hospital in critical condition after being struck by a bus at the intersection of Barrymore Lane and Prince Road, the entrance to Mic Mac Park.
Dupuis tells CTV Windsor he's still shaken by what he saw. "Trying to enjoy their summer you know, yeah, sorry I'm a bit emotional. It was a pretty crazy scene yesterday, you know?"
He says the girl was with her brother and her aunt heading to the park when things went wrong.
Another neighbour, Aimee Van Wolde, walked out of her home to see the chaos. "It was the aftermath so the girl was already gone. The brother was still there and was kind of in shock sitting on the grass so I stay with him and made sure he was still breathing and making sure he was drinking his water. I didn't know what else to do. I have little brothers so it was super emotional for me."
Fellow neighbour Brittany Williams says it's a bad intersection. "It's horrible, on a daily basis my son's bus stop is there and even though the stop signs are out on the bus cars are still flying by, The bus has to honk at them."
Nearby residents are starting a petition to get a crosswalk installed at the entrance to Mic Mac Park.
