The People's Party of Canada now has candidates running in every riding across Windsor-Essex.
Dan Burr has been selected to run in Windsor-Tecumseh in the upcoming federal election.
The newly formed party was started in late 2018 by former Conservative cabinet minister Maxime Bernier.
Burr is a pipe fitter and plumber at Chrysler, working at the Windsor minivan plant.
He says he believes in the new party's platform and its leader.
"I think if Maxine can get into the leadership debates and we have the candidates to do that now, with the rules in place for the leadership debates, we ought to have Maxine in the debates and I think that will help tremendously," says Burr.
Burr says he has politics in his blood as he's the son of former Windsor Mayor David Burr (1986-1988).
Cheryl Hardcastle is the incumbent M-P in Windsor-Tecumseh, representing the NDP. The Conservative Party of Canada has picked Leo DeMarce as its candidate. The Liberals have yet to select a candidate.
Burr says he feels Canadians need a new choice.
"Canada needs a change in the way the direction is going I feel, so I felt it was time," he says.
The People's Party of Canada has candidates in all three parties. Darryl Burrell is running in Windsor-West and William Capes in Essex.
The federal election is October 21.
