The mayor of Pelee Island is not seeking re-election.
Cathy Miller recently announced on social media she will not seek a second term.
In her post, Miller says, “She wanted to give some good people some good time to think about how they might step up and into that role.”
She goes on to say the work of mayor has been rewarding and has also been a real test.
Miller was first elected in 2022, receiving 86 per cent of the vote.
She defeated Larry Bailey.
Miller is encouraging everyone to find a way to get involved - either run for council, sit on a committee, or just attend meetings and participate.
She says she feels good about leaving the island she calls home better than she found it and is proud of the items that were advanced over the past four years.
Her last day as mayor is November 15.
As of Wednesday morning, no candidates have stepped forward to run for mayor of Pelee Island.
