The 26th annual Paul Martin Garden Perennial Plant Sale will take place Saturday, May 6 in its new greenhouse location at 2449 McDougall Street.
Hybrid Nell Martin Roses and numerous types of perennials, grass, herbs, shrubs, and a small selection of trees will be available for purchase.
Also available to purchase will be different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, basil, rosemary, daylilies, hosta, peonies, yucca, rhubarb, raspberries, strawberries, and lavender plants.
After receiving public feedback last year, the city is bringing back the cannas and have added Dahlias for the first time.
Methods of payment accepted are cash, debit, and credit cards.
The gates open at 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Wanda Letourneau, Manager of Horticulture, City of Windsor says they're expecting a big turn out.
"Typically people line up at six in the morning so it's very popular. It will be the first time the public will enter the greenhouse and they will be able to walk through our operations as well as the whole outside which will offer herbs and spices, annuals, as well as some perennials and trees and shrubs."
Letourneau says it's very exciting to have this event in their new facility, "A lot of the stuff we grow it's hard to find anymore. It's hard to find vegetables and herbs so we provide all that," she said. "Which is great because everybody wants to do home gardening now and cook so it's a huge opportunity for the public and well as for us to showcase what we have here and what's beautiful."
She adds they have a tool online for those that want to get a head start on the sale.
"On the city website, the website indicates a layout of what pernials, herbs, shrubs. So if you want to pre-pick what you want and just say 'hey'. We 20 staff of gardeners that are expertise that will offer, if have any tips or anything you want to share, they're there to help."
Letourneau says there will be plenty of parking available on site.
