Patrons at the Essex County Library are glad to be back in their branches.
All 14 branches are re-opening today after a strike lasting 231 days. Those coming to the Bill Varga Branch in Lasalle were mostly glad the closure is over.
Les Lovell and Bernadette Elachkar expressed different opinions, Lovell calling it a needless strike while Elachkar was glad to be able to bring her granddaughter to the branch.
Velma Clarke belongs to a book club in Lasalle and says she found an alternative during the strike, getting books at the Budamir Branch in Windsor.
Maureen College says her family definitely missed the library.
"My kids are very excited, I have five children, and they all love to read and we usually come here once a week so it's been a long time since they've been here," says College. "We're going on vacation tomorrow for a road trip for two weeks and they want books."
Many of the people coming to the branch were returning books they had been holding on to for months. They were glad of the fine amnesty to the end of April.
