The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority has partnered with the University of Windsor for an economic impact study of the new Gordie Howe International Bridge project.
The partnership includes the Canada-Border Institute at the University of Windsor along with Michigan State University's Canadian Studies Centre.
Both universities will examine and quantify the economic benefits from the construction of the new bridge along with economic development stemming from the new crossing once its in service.
The study will be done in three phase.
The opening of the bridge is scheduled for early 2022.
A Request for Proposals has been issued to the three prononents vying to build the new crossing.
They have 12 months to submit the bids.
