Thanksgiving is going to be a bit nicer for more than 300 families in Windsor-Essex.
Sun Life Financial, Sobeys and the Children's Aid Society have partnered for a 2nd year to donate Thanksgiving meals to needy families.
Paul Lue Pann, Sun Life Financial Centre Manager says it's turned out even better this year: "we did this last year and raised about 200 meals, this year we have about 320 so we're pretty excited by the increase in the meals that people get. It's all in the title, thanks for what we have and giving when we can. Especially to the people who need a little help"
He says they make sure everybody gets their meal, even if they can't get to Sobeys there will be volunteers from the CAS to make sure they come out a bring the meals.
Children's Aid Society CEO Bill Bevan says this helps the people who need it most: "most of us in society take a special time out with family and friends and we usually have turkey or ham or whatever your thing is. To get turkey in the hands of folks that are struggling it really means something and you can imagine the smiling kids faces around the dinner table"
The families get a voucher from the CAS to take to Sobeys to collect the food.
